Potting Bench – Height and Size

Before you buy or build your potting bench, you want to measure the ideal height.  The perfect height is going to around waist height so that you don’t have to put any undue strain on your back by stooping down or working with your shoulders raised.

The when working the ideal height should have you comforatable and able to work for longer.

When it comes to how wide you want your bench, consider what you will be doing at it the most.  Are you potting large plants or small, do you need to store things nearby or can they be in a draw.  You also want to consider an area that is clean that can be used for noting information or keeping a record of the plants that you are working with.

Having this additional space will help to keep eveything in order.

One last thing to consider is a source of water.  While having a tap at your potting table may be a luxury for some, others find it extremely important.  So if you don’t have a tap nearby, you may want to consider installing it in your table.
